Join us for Bayside Talks, a quarterly speaker series at the Bayside Library!
The Department of Health joins us this month to discuss Adverse Childhood Experiences.
Adverse childhood experiences, or ACEs, are defined as potentially traumatic events that occur during the first 17 years of life. Examples include abuse, witnessing violence, unstable housing, and environments that undermine a child's sense of stability and safety. In this interactive workshop and talk, we will discuss how to identify and respond to trauma by caring for ourselves and others. Join us in learning new tools for responding to others with empathy and compassion for the betterment of our community.
Our speakers:
Jackie Lawrence is the Community Engagement Manager at the Virginia Beach Department of Health. She is a Virginia Beach native with roots in the Black Seatack community and a background in Social Work and Public Health.
