Novel Creations: Altered Books by Maggie Kerrigan

Maggie Kerrigan is not your average book lover! In fact, she likes to “destroy” books in order to resurrect them into works of art.

Maggie rescues unwanted books (usually from thrift stores) and recreates them into sculptural pieces by cutting, folding, collaging, painting, and weaving the pages. Sometimes she will dismantle a book and then reassemble it into something totally new. There is always a connection between the original title/content of the book and the finished artwork. 

Meet Maggie at a public reception for her art show at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library on Wednesday, June 7, 6-7:30 pm. Her unique art creations will be on display in the Central Library art gallery throughout June.
